Who it's for
Most accounting apps are made for businesses with staff, clients and a bookkeeper. Sortd is for the individual: one person logging their hours and keeping on top of their own money and tax.
If you are self-employed or working as a subcontractor, and you want to know what you have earned and what to set aside, Sortd is for you.
The story
I have been self-employed for about a year, and the work was never the hard part. The admin was. My hours lived in a clunky Excel spreadsheet I never kept up to date, so half the time I was guessing at what I had actually worked. My invoices got knocked together in Canva. And I had no real idea how much tax I was meant to be putting aside, which is a horrible feeling when you know a bill is coming and you cannot see it.
I looked at the proper accounting apps, but every one of them wanted me to link a business bank account I did not have. Like a lot of self-employed people, I get paid into my personal account, and that alone was enough to lock me out. So I carried on with a mess of spreadsheets and bits of software that did not talk to each other. The worst part was that expenses and mileage, the exact things that lower your tax bill, never got logged properly. Every year end turned into a scramble, and I was almost certainly paying more tax than I needed to.
When I started talking to other self-employed people, I realised it was not just me. Same spreadsheet, same guesswork, same dread. So I built Sortd: the app I wish I had from day one. Log your hours as you go, get your invoices out on time, know exactly what to set aside, and capture your expenses and mileage so you keep more of what you earn, all in one place instead of five. You should be able to just get on with your work. Sortd handles the rest.

FAQ
No. Sortd gives you a clear estimate of the tax and National Insurance to set aside, based on what you log. It is a guide to help you plan, not tax or financial advice, and not a filing service.
Anyone self-employed or working as a subcontractor who logs their hours: tradespeople, cleaners, tutors, freelancers, drivers, carers and more. It is built for the individual worker, not businesses running a firm.
Sortd helps you stay on top of your hours, income, expenses, mileage and the tax to set aside through the year, which makes everything simpler. Many people will still use an accountant to file, and Sortd makes that far less painful.
No. Sortd does not link to your bank at all. Like a lot of self-employed people, you can get paid into your personal account and still use everything in the app.
Your data is stored securely and is only yours. You can manage or delete your account at any time from within the app.
Sortd is free to start with the Basic plan. Standard is £3.99 a month (or £39.99 a year) and Premium is £6.99 a month (or £69.99 a year). You can cancel anytime.
